Cute utility bag! (5 out of 5)
OK, I got this for knitting, but that's not what I'm using it for. It's nicely organized and well made, so I can see it holding absolutely everything that I would need for a project. Only draw back is that, loaded, it's a touch heavy. I guess I'll have to get another one for my knitting!
Overall I really like this bag, but for me there are just a couple of things that I feel could be improved.
First off, I love love love this salmon color. It’s a weathered red that’s a little in the warm orange side. It looks so great with the brown leather and bronze hardware.
The only things I feel could be improved are the zippers in the main pocket compartments. I wish that there were zippers on both sides of the pocket so that you could open it he pocket from the top by opening both zippers down. There is only one zipper on the side and you have to zip it all the way over to open the pocket, which means that when I’m wearing the bag, stuff from the pocket could fall out when the pocket is open. Maybe it’s just me and I haven’t played around with it enough.
The other thing that I’m not completely in love with is wearing it cross body while wearing a bulkier coat. But that’s probably just the nature of wearing a bulky coat, and not the bag’s fault. I get it tangled up with the hood of my coat and end up just carrying it by the little top handle instead.
And, I feel like the 2 smaller pockets in the front compartment are too narrow to really out much inside them. My phone does not fit in either of those pockets. But I can keep it safely in the bigger pocket in that compartment instead.
Saying all that, I do really like the style, the fabric, the beautiful color, and the leather. It’s a nice casual bag.
Wow, this beautifully constructed bag has everything compacted into a just the right size travel bag. I was looking for a bag that I could put the things I needed to get at - my phone, my iPad, some basic ID and credit cards, health and grooming basics, and my knitting- on a car or plane for when we do that again trip. I have used a backpack for this in the past found it kind of clunky and often carried a small purse as well. More bagsthan I needed. This bag has room for all those things in a smaller footprint as well as a built in cutter, places for needles and notions. Perfect! Bag material, stitching and zippers are also first class! And really like the color.
This bag is designed more for hiking than for knitting.
The inside liner is a dark brown so while good to hide dirt, it is hard to see your knitting things.
Personally I do not like the yarn feeder. It has rough edges underneath it and when the bag is opened, the feeder is actually not needed. Also that yarn cutter I simply removed to prevent snags.
The pockets are too small for water bottles, even slim ones.
Otherwise it is a very nice hiking bag that looks great!
This bag is SO beautiful! The red color is amazing and is perfect for carrying your small project with you! Plenty of pockets and I love how it can be worn on your back or front. LOVE IT!!!
My mini messenger bag arrived before Christmas, to my surprise and delight. It’s extremely well constructed of high quality materials - I love waxed canvas, and the mustard really pops against most of my wardrobe. However, this bag pulled two HUGE snags in my hand knit fisherman’s sweater within 24 hours of putting it to use. The first one I sort of understood - it was caused by the stitch holder that runs through the two brass eyelets on the front of the bag. I put that inside the bag, thinking I had solved the problem, but when one of the zipper heads pulled a second big snag, I was not happy. This bag has at least three of these big brass zippers, and the the top part that holds the zipper pull is not fully closed, leaving just enough space to catch yarn in your knitted garments. My choice now is to either return the bag or attempt to close the zipper heads with pliers, because what good is this bag for knitters if it destroys your knits?
Overall I’m very pleased with the quality of the bag. However the description is misleading in a couple areas, especially in regards to a phone pocket.
First - the pros. The bag is nice and roomy. I can fit my iPad which is a big plus. I like that I can separate a knitting project from wallet, keys etc. Lots of pockets. Nice craftsmanship.
The cons - the interior phone pocket does NOT fit a phone. The width of the pocket in the photo with the sunglasses must be wider than in the final product. The opening is only 2.5 inches. This is very disappointing as there is no other shallow pocket to keep the phone handy. I’ll be digging it out of deeper pockets or keeping it in the front zip pocket.
2 “water bottle pockets” - I really only find one that I would consider a pocket for a water bottle
The “dot journal” is a tiny 2 inch pamphlet
Hopefully people find this helpful.
