I have been looking at these for quite some time. I finally went ahead and got a set. I am using them for a fingering weight yarn and they are great! I wish I had gotten them sooner.
Sorry-correction to my last review: The review should be for the Spool, not the Adapter. Wish I could include pictures, but the spool fits perfectly on the Mini Minder, after winding it on a ball winder simply slip the spool onto the spindle and slid the elastic band to the middle. Thanks again, Jimmy Bean! This WinderFull Spool is awesome!
I received a Lemon Wood Mini Minder as a gift, and it’s beautiful! I didn’t know I needed it until I used it . However, I found that if the minder was lower than my knitting position I would get tangled up I’m clumsy that way as it would pull from the top. This WinderFull Adapter works perfectly, so far no top pull. Thank you for providing this wonderful gadget, of which I will be ordering more of, you can never have enough! I used to seriously dislike knitting from cakes, because I always got tangled up, but no longer. Wind me up!
I love these to knit with. They rule smoothly in my bag or pull from the side. It’s kind of fun winding them up with a drill. I just have to be careful not to go too fast or if there’s a problem on the swift it yanks the yarn tight on the winderfull. I have two projects using them at the moment.
An absolute game changer for yarn management! (5 out of 5)
WHERE HAVE THESE BEEN ALL MY LIFE?! These little spools are absolutely incredible at managing yarn and keeping it tangle free- I now own 10 Winderfull Spools and my projects will never be without one! Every yarn I've wound onto them has been kept neat and tidy throughout my entire project, and I especially love them for thin yarn like skinny singles and mohair/silk. They are easy to use and make winding a breeze. I highly recommend these, especially for those yarns that have a lot of grip or tend to tangle when stitched.
I hate hand winding yarn, but the traditional gadgets seemed like too much of a commitment. I have been using the Winderfull for almost a year now and swear by it! It takes maybe about 5 minutes to wind an entire skein.
Read the instructions, watched a video. Followed directions. The success of using this tool lies totally on the power source you have available. The power tool I had available was something that these old arthritic knitter's hands had difficulty with. Ended up having my husband assist me. The yarn wound so tight that I rewound it using my old reliable. This may work for some, but not me! It's going back.......
Arrived quickly. The Winder Full Spool is used with the adapter and your power screw driver. Very easy to use. I would recommend this to anyone who has arthritis or carpal tunnel in your hands. No longer have pain as there is no repetive movement.
I used my Winderfull for the first time today. I’ll give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Let me first say that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the Winderfull. It does exactly what it says it will do, and for that I could potentially give it a full 5 stars. But, it is at the core an attachment and not “the whole tool”. It depends entirely on another tool that can have a significant impact on the user’s experience of the Winderfull. Things that make this a 3.5, but are not the Winderfull’s fault: Electric Screwdriver Speed compared to what my crank arm can churn out on a traditional yarn ball winder, it took longer to wind a 437yd/100g skein. I didn’t time it, but I could definitely see that my swift was spinning more slowly than if I were using a yarn ball winder. But, again, this isn’t the Winderfull’s fault. It is a limitation of my battery-powered screwdriver. Although, this factor could be a plus with more tender or delicate yarns, to limit breakage. Having to Hold the Electric Screwdriver given the extended length of time necessary to wind the yarn, I have to include a comment about holding the screwdriver and the spool of yarn as it was winding. My screwdriver doesn’t that I know of have an “always on” button. I have to press and hold the power button down for however long it takes, and that’s pretty hard on the hand. These little guys are generally meant for short bursts of use. So, a good stretch of uninterrupted use can wear you down a little. Some possible minuses that I did not take into consideration in my rating: Once the yarn is on the spool, the spool is spoken for and you can’t use it again until you’re done with that yarn- I purposely purchased the kit version of the Winderfull, so that I would have two spools. No center pull because the yarn is on the spool If you don’t mind always working from the outer part of your yarn cake, this won’t be an issue. Hope this info is helpful.
