Fun fact about the designer: Chris could never pass up a good beer, especially if he can knit at the same time. Whether it's a quiet Saturday night or a happy hour after a busy day, he likes to grab a pint, sit, and work on his knitting. Chris bound off this project as he was finishing an evening drink with friends, so the name Happy Hour stuck. Made with three skeins of Malabrigo Rios, this worsted weight shawl is worked sideways and combines garter stitch and slipped stitches, making it a quick and comfortable project that works especially well with chilly days. Just be sure to drink (and knit) responsibly!

Chris is a big fan of the TV show, American Horror Story, and this shawl was inspired by his favorite character, Misty Day from Coven. She had a peaceful and carefree attitude with an amazing Stevie Nicks inspired wardrobe to match. These included her lavish shawls that she wore in and out of the swamps of New Orleans and captured her character of the Hippie Swamp Witch.
Finished measurements: Approximately 67" in wingspan and 29" from cast on to the deepest point.

The Great Basin is located in the middle of the Western United States; a large rocky area of mountains, lakes and desert, much of which lays atop my home state of Nevada. I designed this generous wrap as the namesake of this geological location. Being a desert, it is known to be very cold at night, so I switched to using an aran weight yarn for this project. Knit from the right to left tip, panels of ribbed cables sweep along the bottom half of this fully reversible shawl to echo the Sierra and Rocky Mountains surrounding the basin, while the top half is knit in seed stitch for texture and to mock the rocky nature of the land I call home.

86" in wingspan, 28" from top of shawl to deepest point.

I went back to some basic roots in designing with stripes for this shawl, which I named LOCAL GIRL, and I encompassed a repeating lace motif which uses double yarn overs for a beautiful and open stitch pattern. The garter section is also peppered with the slightest of short rows for some visual interest in the contrasting color. Breaking away from my personal rule of "One Skein Per Color", I used two skeins for the lace motif, and I can't regret my decision. This project was begging for more love in the lace section, and the result of a sizeable and stylish shawl was truly amazing.

"Moho" is the Spanish word for "rust", and after binding off this shawl, Chris couldn't help but think of an old ship on its last layers of metal due to the rusting that occurred after years at sea. Construction and techniques used in knitting this shawl may be familiar, but the result is unique! Worked sideways in a growing chevron style, half the shawl is regular garter stitch, and the other half is created with mesh lace eyelets. Each section moves, creating a lovely edge that grows, then shrinks back down near the end. Any yarn, any yardage, and any gauge will work, and you can treat yourself or another to a lovely accessory!

Designed by our very own Chris Salas, after moving to Chicago last year. He began working the night shift at his new job, and was surprised to find that he still had plenty of time for knitting and designing! He designed the pattern to represent the contrast between day and night. The result is an asymmetric stunner, that is sure to become a staple in your knitwear collection!

Partners in Cashmere is a pattern that results in fingerless mitts that are nothing short of stylish. Using two colors, a slip stitch pattern that twists across thin stripes gives the mitts a fresh, modern look. Twisted stitches in the openings give the gloves some sturdiness.
