My advice to get the best size is to measure the diameter of a ring that already fits the finger you want to wear the row counter on. If you don't have one, use a bit of yarn to tie a makeshift ring for your finger and measure the diameter of the yarn-ring. Once you have that measurement, check on KnitPro's product page for the ring size that corresponds closest to your ring diameter. It would be helpful if Jimmy Beans could add the ring diameters to their website, too.
Following the advice on the product page and other reviews, I ordered a size larger, which was a mistake because it was ludicrously too large and then I had to pay return shipping to make the exchange for the correct size, which didn't feel quite right since the product page explicitly says to order a size larger, but I didn't press the issue. Then the replacement was defective the spring tensioning the dials was too loose, but I do now finally have a functioning ring that fits well enough †it's beautiful and I love it. I've wrapped some scrap alpaca yarn round the back of it to make the fit a bit snugger.
I want to give a BIG shout out for the Row Counter Ring by Knitters Pride. While I do a fair amount of knitting, this counter is by far the most convenient and useful. I considered it for a year. Now I wish I hadn’t waited.
I actually got the wrong size and had to exchange for a smaller size. Customer service was very helpful.
Regarding the row counter ring, I love it. It is very pretty and so useful since I can put it on my thumb while knitting. This is the only one I would want to use from now on. It is easy to turn once you realize you have to push the number rings inwards towards the center of the ring. There are two small wire springs creating the tension that keeps the number rings from moving on there own. I hope it makes sense but it is really easy to operate once you realize that. Just look at the instructions when you get it. I did not at first and just started using it.
It is great. You will love it.
Loved my first ring so much that I ordered this one so as to be able to use on more than one project. Hence as first was the black this time ordered the rainbow.
I will say the numbers stand out better on the black.
Also use with my Kindergarten son to help him with recognizing his numbers. He loves this activity.
The size is not small enough and the rings turn with great difficulty. Turning one side also moves the other it is not quick and does not save any time
Love this counter. Electronic ones get a mind of their own sometimes and am not reliable with paper and pen method. Having this on my finger is a constant reminder. Had one that fell apart but was readily replaced.
